Zuku Revamps Residential Internet Speeds offering to 50Mbps

Company invests over Kshs. 40 million in upgrade of network infrastructure facilitating 50Mbps offering


In a strategic market development effort, Wananchi Group’s home entertainment and communication services brand Zuku, has today revealed a revamped plan to deliver fast home based connections by launching 50 Mbps Internet service, the fastest residential service offering in the market. 

Commenting on the new offering, Wananchi Group’s CEO Richard Alden noted, “Kenyans are now demanding more speeds, and this demand has fuelled our overall broadband strategyby revamping our internet offering. Not only are we now delivering the fastest speed today, but our infrastructure has the capacity to support even higher speeds as demand and usage grows.”

Zuku has injected over Kshs 40 million in modernization of the network infrastructure to achieve speeds of 50Mbps thus providing speed and reliability value proposition critical to customers use and enjoyment.

The offering will be piloted to 100 customers in areas like Runda, Spring Valley, Karen and  deployed on the company’s latest high capacity fiber optic network technology -GPON   with full roll out expected by August to more customers

Kenya’s National broadband strategy outlines a stable connectivity with high connection speeds of up to 40Mbps in urban areas, and 5Mbps in rural areas by 2017, we are glad that we have set the pace offering 50Mbps, speeds which now allow Internet users to enjoy seamless data, voice and video, services which are classified as imperative towards the economic development of the country using ICT, concluded Alden. 

The move comes even as the company continues to expand its residential network across key counties with Mombasa currently ongoing.
