Zuku launches Glam channel; targeting female viewers

Zuku has launched a new channel offering a blend of content packaged to appeal to a female audience.

The new channel called Glam, will showcase locally produced shows, Music, Realities, Lifestyle, Drama and Comedies, will be available from July 1, 2016. Glam will replace the US basic cable and satellite television network, TLC.

Glam is a blend of female-skewed content and is Zuku’s flagship General Entertainment channel targeting ladies aged between 18-45 years.

Commenting on the new channel, Wananchi Group Chief Executive Officer Santiago Benedit said: Availing the new fresh channel to our subscribers will open up a universe of world-class entertainment across the African continent.

“As an organization we continue with our mandate of making quality home entertainment accessible to a rapidly growing market,” he added.

Glam Channel which joins the fold of Zuku owned channels such as Zuku Novella, Zuku Nollywood, Zuku Sports, Zuku Swahili, Zuku Life, Zuku Movie, Zuku Kids, will replace TLC on the same channel number 711.

Some of the new shows on the channel will include; Mindy Project, Real Housewives of Vancouver, Married to Medicine, Royal Pain , Marriage Bootcamp. An array of locally produced shows such as Celebrity Kitchen Raid, Trade Centre, Statehouse, and the Award winning show Tales from the Bush larder feature amongst many other attractive shows.

The addition comes at a time when there is increasing interest amongst audiences for African generated content which Glam is proud to offer. Zuku TV is proud of its Zuku branded channels, developed to resonate with audiences desirous of African content.
